Bio

A bit about Jacob Shore.

Short intro

I’m Jacob Shore — software engineer, ordained Rabbi, and language learner based in Beit Shemesh, Israel. This site is a hub for my projects, writing, and whatever else I’m working on or thinking about.

Professionally I build backend systems and infrastructure. Outside of that: Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew, history, philosophy, long conversations, and the occasional stubborn side project.

What I do

Infrastructure for production systems. Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, CI/CD. I’ve run these in constrained, self-hosted environments where things actually have to work. I own deployments from first commit to post-mortem.

Backend engineering across the stack. Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask), Go, Node.js. I move between languages and ecosystems based on what the problem needs.

AI systems integration. RAG pipelines, semantic retrieval, agent orchestration. I’m approaching this as an engineer — building evaluation tooling, debugging context assembly failures, making retrieval systems reliable enough to ship.

Language as a professional tool. Multilingual with a focus on Semitic languages and the broader MENA region. Relevant for multilingual systems, regional work, and security-adjacent contexts.

  • Implemented GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and Terraform for infrastructure-as-code across multiple services
  • Led delivery of a customer-facing deployment portal — reduced manual onboarding effort by 60%
  • Owned backend services across Python, Go, and Node.js end-to-end
  • Defined engineering standards around testing, deployment, and operational practices

Backend Engineer

IronScales, Ramat Gan 2021–2022

  • Built Django/Python APIs for a high-availability enterprise security platform
  • Worked with infrastructure on deployment, scaling, and reliability on AWS

Backend & Infrastructure Engineer

DatAlign, Beit Shemesh 2019–2021

  • Designed CI/CD pipelines automating test and deployment workflows
  • Built Docker-based deployments for HIPAA-compliant healthcare infrastructure
  • Introduced infrastructure-as-code practices across environments

Prior background

Years of intensive textual study and teaching developed analytical habits, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly — more useful in engineering than it might sound.
